Scots College prides itself on high quality teaching and building all-round character, but it takes a whole village to deliver an exceptional educational experience.

We also have a large team of operational and administration staff who work behind the scenes and are an integral part of the team.

This includes IT, marketing, finance, a health centre, and property and catering staff.

Science Technician - Part Time During Term Time Only:
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic person to join the Science Department at Scots College.

This important role is primarily to assist the full time Technician to support the teaching staff (including the Lab Manager) and students, in coordinating teaching resources, managing hazardous substances, and generally maintaining equipment and materials in the College's Science Laboratories.

This is a part-time (0.5), permanent appointment (with most school holidays off), and will ideally commence prior to the start of Term We may also be prepared to consider flexibility with holiday work, should this be required.

Most importantly, applicants must have:

  • Previous laboratory experience, ideally within a school.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • The ability to work alongside students as well as College staff.
  • The ability to work independently, sometimes alone, and still achieve results.
  • An understanding of how to ensure laboratory practices align with the "guidance to the Code of Practice for School Exempt Laboratories overlaid with information about duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015" and an ability to develop and monitor processes to match these requirements.
  • Competent at using online ordering systems such as RiskAssess (although training will be provided).
