He angitūtanga | About the roleThe Sounds District team is seeking a highly motivated and organised person to oversee the work programme for the Community Team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, prioritising and reporting for community work programmes as well as managing the associated budgets.

As part of the District Leadership Team, you will work with leaders to plan the District's priorities.

You will work closely with the Supervisor, who is responsible for the day to day tasking of the District's staff.


This role will be focussed on:

  • facilitating between community groups and stakeholders
- processing marine mammal concessions
- managing external stakeholder relationships and partner with iwi, hapū, and whanau.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Picton. You will primarily be office based, with the opportunity to work with the field team on occasion.

Your ability to think strategically and act operationally will contribute to the successful planning and scheduling of work programmes across the district.

We want to hear from you if you have:

- experience in and enjoy working with processes and systems, and prioritising work load
- experience in engaging, partnering and working with communities
- excellent communication and technical writing skills including the ability to create clear, well written content for complex information
- excellent relationship building and collaboration skills and a proven experience partnering with a diverse range of stakeholders including community, iwi and business groups
- outstanding planning, organising, and decision-making skills
- previous experience planning and tracking project and budgets
- a full, current New Zealand driver's licence.

Desirable:

- sound understanding and experience of statutory land administration and resource management
- broad understanding of the Department's function
- in depth knowledge of local community and natural environment
- established relationships with local whānau, hapu and iwi.

The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, heritage/visitor, community engagement and visitor centre teams.

The Sounds District team consists of twenty-one permanent staff who are supported by several temporary staff over the summer months.

They are a positive mix of people that draw on the strengths of the team to help deliver its work.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 to $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
