This is an exciting opportunity for a professional,
highly motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join the Genetics
gene and mitochondrial disorders, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and
molecular oncology/haematology. The laboratory is well equipped with the latest
technology and has established national and international research
collaborations.
This is a permanent part-time position working 32
hours per week, within a busy laboratory that provides diagnostic testing
nationally and internationally. The successful applicant will be based in the Cytogenetics
section mainly supporting fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) and
chromosome analysis. Any prior experience in FISH or karyotyping would be an advantage,
although full training will be provided. The hours of work to fit with service
delivery requirements are between 8:30 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be registered (or eligible for
registration) as an MLS with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council and will
have previous experience working as a scientist in a diagnostic genetic
laboratory.

You will be a highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills
and able to work as part of a team as well as independently. In addition, you
will be organised and efficient with effective time management skills.
