About The Role:
Data Technician
The Data Technician is part of the Cool Chain team, who's purpose is to provide early season kiwifruit to the markets in a 'Ready to Retail' state by conditioning the fruit during the shipping phase within the Supply Chain.
Cool Chains busiest period is March through to June when we are running the conditioning program to deliver fruit to the markets.
As the Data Technician, you will be monitoring and assessing data as the ships are in-transit, instructing vessels on temperature changes, verifying that the instructions have been carried out, processing temperature data post voyage and supporting the Cool Chain team where required.
Safety and wellbeing is paramount at Zespri, so you will be supporting and maintaining practices and procedures to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the Fruit Monitoring Technicians in transit.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure effective fruit conditioning, by monitoring, assessing, and reporting on findings, highlighting any issues that may need to be addressed.
- Instruct vessels and carriers where required on any changes to cargo conditions, such as temperature or the release of ethylene gas.
- Instruct vessels on changes to the cargo conditions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Communication to vessels or the wider team and verify requests have been actioned.
- Support preload activities where required.
- Maintain data quality by checking, cleaning, and validating data prior to uploading into the database.
- Monitor, assess and review voyage cargo settings prevoyage, intransit, and post voyage.
- Maintain files and records with effective filing systems.
- Assist in creating Cool Chain reports.
- Work collaboratively in supporting the team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in data processing and/or administration roles.
- Efficient data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Intermediate excel skills, Power BI and SAP would be an advantage.
- Current driver's license.
- Kiwifruit industry knowledge would be advantageous.
- Driven, proactive personality and a positive attitude.
- Flexible in the hours of work.
- Strong communication and engagement skills both verbally and written.
