About the role

The Electricity Authority - Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates and is the kaitiaki of Aotearoa New Zealand's electricity market.

Our purpose is to enhance New Zealander's lives, prosperity and environment through electricity.

We are looking for an experienced Quantitative Analyst to join our Monitoring team, within the wider Legal, Monitoring and Compliance group.

About you

As a Quantitative Analyst, you will have analytical and critical thinking skills, the willingness to operate in an environment of continuous improvement and learning, as well as relevant post graduate qualification.

You will be able to utilise relationship management skills to work across all parts of the Authority as well as the wider industry, consumers and stakeholders, and the team itself to achieve great outcomes.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to provide appropriate advice, analysis, and written papers applicable to your level of experience.

Are you someone with the following?

  • A relevant qualification in engineering, physics, statistics, mathematics, or economics
  • The ability to undertake and interpret quantitative analysis, with experience in SQL, R, or Python
  • Ability to think analytically and critically while mitigating analytical and decisionmaking biases
  • Are curious, flexible, and open to integrating ideas, information, and differing perspectives
  • The willingness and ability to learn about the industry, and use of different data analysis and programming tools
