Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity


Te Puriri o Te Ora - Te Toka Tumai's Regional Cancer and Blood Service is the leading provider of cancer care in the Northern region, providing active and supportive cancer care to over two million within our Auckland and Northland region, as well as specialist national services.


The Integrated Cancer Services programme will transform how cancer care is delivered across the Northern Region of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand.

With a Te Ao Māori worldview, the objective of the programme is to develop an innovative model that pivots from the current approach of delivering care from specialist tertiary centres to community facing centres providing care closer to home.


This role is accountable to the Director Te Puriri o Te Ora, to lead the development of a new model of care within the Integrated Cancer Services programme that provides sustainable cancer care capacity for the Northern Region, through a Te Tiriti o Waitangi focussed, academically informed, regionally consistent model.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience supporting and/or implementing programmes of work that support Māori health equity
  • A mature understanding of the health system and Te Ao Māori integration in your practice
  • A strong understanding of service design principles and experience in delivering successful service design (operating model) projects in large complex organisations from concept through initiation to completion.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and advanced relationship management
