Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role

The Ministry for Primary Industries has a great opportunity for an exceptional customer care expert to become the Senior Adviser working across the Customer Resolutions and Customer Enquiries teams.

The role will involve resolving complaints and assisting others to manage and resolve complaints efficiently.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Advisor Customer Resolutions and Enquiries will be to:

  • Management and resolution of complex, high-risk and other escalated complaints
  • Provision of training, learning, and assistance for customer facing MPI staff
  • Performance monitoring and complaints reporting
  • Building strong networks across the different business areas within MPI
  • Identifying areas of risk and providing mitigation
  • Using customer insights to inform service improvement
Mōu - About You

  • Empathy and a demonstrated ability to take a customer centric lens to complaint resolution (i.e. being able to ensure the complainant's point of view is being considered by MPI)
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, including mediation, influencing, verbal and written communication and the ability to work with senior stakeholders;
  • A strategic outlook, critical thinking and the ability to interpret, use and communicate data and insights;
  • Good judgement and a strong sense of integrity;
  • High personal resilience and persistence.

The Customer Resolutions Team is a recently established team at MPI to set up systems and processes to ensure an organisation-wide approach to managing complaints.

The Customer Enquiries Centre (CEC) is the core centralised customer enquiries hub for the Ministry for Primary Industries and act as the first point in contact on behalf of all MPI business groups and provide guidance to members of the public or triage the enquiry appropriately for a response.
