We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Senior Librarian Children & Youth based at Onehunga Library.

In this senior role, you will be leading and contributing to the day to day running of the library and frontline library services.

You will work across the Connected Communities network to design and deliver literacy and learning activities and initiatives which target tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau, and are driven by community need.

A key aspect of this role is that you will be a role model and coach in providing excellent customer service to children and youth and will help to foster a sense of belonging in our vibrant library space.

About you

We are seeking an experienced librarian with LIANZA professional registration.

You will bring with you a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, implementation and delivery of services and programmes.


We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • An ability to provide good leadership with strong communication skills
  • Skill in planning and evaluating innovative programmes and events
  • An aptitude for building relationships with young people and their whānau, schools and peers
  • Comfortable with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices that are available at the library
  • Strong children and youth readers advisory skills
