Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This position for a clinical psychologist is a relatively new and exciting opportunity.

  • This psychology position is funded as part of the development and expansion of the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Team. We are seeking an experienced clinical psychologist who will provide brief patient interventions, as well as contribute to the continued development of the psychology role and to other quality initiatives in the wider team. This is a 0.6 FTE position within a multidisciplinary team working Monday to Friday.
  • Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Work with a wide range of patients and colleagues within various teams and systems within Waikato Hospital.
  • Provide a range of brief clinical interventions to patients of various ages and health needs.
  • The ability to provide outpatient psychological therapy to some patients on discharge from hospital.
  • Participate in other activities such as developing patient support plans, whanau liaison, collegial education and service development.

  • Skills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role:
  • Registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board
  • Hold a full current driver's licence is essential
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Practice autonomously and also as part of an MDT
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including computer literacy
  • Proficiently manage time and prioritise individual and team tasks
