Mātau rōpū ake | About our group and team

Te Tuarongo is focused on lifting the capability across our organisation to give practical effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We navigate te ao Karauna and te ao Māori so our organisation can create space for Māori to exercise tino rangatiratanga and support our kāwanatanga responsibility.

Our group supports the development of relationships between Te Tāhuhu and Māori. In particular, we support the Directors of Education, as required, who hold the local relationships with iwi and hapū.

In doing so, we will ensure that relevant parts of our organisation are well connected so that we can deliver on our agreements.

We lead the engagement and response to the forthcoming Waitangi Tribunal kaupapa inquiry and provide our organisation with clear visibility of Ka Hikitia — Ka Hāpaitia and Tau Mai Te Reo in action so we can see that our core work is making the difference that these strategies require.

Te Tuarongo has a working relationship with the Minister responsible for Māori Education.
The Ao Māori Capability Team, Te Tuarongo, is a newly established team to support and enable the Pou Ārahi Collective, Te Tuarongo and the Ministry in lifting the Ao Māori Capability organisation-wide, and the aspirational statement of:
Poipoiā ngā mokopuna, ngā rangatira mō āpōpō.
Nurture our children, for they are the leaders of the future.

Kua rite koe mō tēnei mahi? | Are you ready to make a difference?
We provide flexible working environments where everyone feels relevant, valued, and supported.

So, if working from home and/or having a flexible start and finish to the day will help with this, we can usually make it happen.

We'd love to hear what this might look like for you, so feel free to outline this in your Cover Letter.

For more information on the role, please look at the job description. For additional information on the changes Te Tāhuhu are embarking on, please visit our careers centre. If this opportunity interests you, please submit your cover letter and resume by using the 'apply' button.

In your cover letter we'd like to know:

- your interest and motivations for this role
- the abilities, strengths, personal attributes, and diverse perspectives you will bring to the role and this organisation.

Applications close Midnight - Monday 30th January 2023.
