Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Community mental health support workers with a passion for innovation and delivering services differently to join us in further development of the Hauraki Rural North Community mental health and addictions teams - providing community based services for individuals that require specialist mental health and addictions support.

This opportunity for 6 months fixed term is to trial implementation of a different way of delivering our business as usual supports in secondary mental health and addictions services.


The purpose of this position is to provide practical support to tangata whaiora who access our service and to provide support to clinical staff who deliver those services.


Responsibilities of the role:

Working closely with Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki, we cover the continuum of care from primary-level community healthcare to advanced, highly specialised, secondary care, including Infant Child and Adolescent, Adult Mental Health, Addictions Services from several locations.

We aim to deliver mental health and wellbeing care in our locality that improves outcomes for Māori and wellbeing for all whānau.

The multidisciplinary team is a strong, collaborative team that is based in Thames, working Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will be welcomed as a valued member of the multidisciplinary team which has a strong focus on collaboration and tangata whaiora and whanau centric care.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

Be open to learning and engage in development opportunities

Be able to work using the guiding principles of the Treaty of Waitangi

Have well developed time management skills with the ability to co-ordinate personal and team tasks in an efficient and organised manner

Be computer literate and have the ability to complete documentation, both written and electronic

Have a current full drivers licence

Have proven experience as a mental health assistant
