We are currently seeking a Community Mental Health Support Worker with a passion for innovation and delivering services differently to join the Central South Sector team - providing community based services for individuals that require specialist mental health support.

The purpose of this position is to provide practical support to tangata whaiora who access our service and to provide support to clinical staff who deliver those services.


Responsibilities of the role:

  • Work under the guidance and supervision of a registered health professional
  • Undertake duties in a professional and trustworthy manner

The mental health and addictions service deliver a variety of services across the Waikato region.

We are as a service undertaking a huge programme of change to deliver better outcomes to tāngata whai ora and whānau in our region.

With tangata whaiora based both locally and rurally, this role provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the communities in which people live and support better outcomes.

The Central South team area runs from the southern half of urban Hamilton out to Raglan on one side and out to Matamata via Cambridge and including Waharoa on the other side.

The multidisciplinary team is a strong, collaborative team that is based in Hamilton, working Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will be welcomed as a valued member of the multidisciplinary team which has a strong focus on collaboration and tangata whaiora and whanau centric care.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Be open to learning and engage in development opportunities
  • Be able to work using the guiding principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Have well developed time management skills with the ability to coordinate personal and team tasks in an efficient and organised manner
  • Be computer literate and have the ability to complete documentation, both written and electronic
  • Have a current full drivers licence
  • Have proven experience as a mental health assistant
