Āu Mahi | What You Will Do


As Concrete Engineering Research Laboratory Manager you will provide high quality specialised technical services and effective operational support to the Concrete Laboratory, ensuring that the Laboratory runs efficiently, within allocated resource, and the needs of staff, students and external clients are met to an exceptional standard.


Mōu | Who You Are
In addition to holding your bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) in Engineering or Science (Masters or above qualification preferred), a current NZ Drivers licence you will have:

  • Substantial (minimum of 5 years) relevant Industry/laboratory experience or equivalent within the area of concrete materials, including chemical analysis,
  • Demonstrated other related skills and experience, including:
  • General skills and experience of trades to supplement Specialist Chemistry skills,
  • Fundamentals of concrete design, mixing and optimization,
  • Concrete material characterization,
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use and maintenance of computer controlled equipment and electronics,
  • Experience in the use of data logging and control software (including optical sensors),
  • Ability to carry out research experiments and understand the research outcomes within a research programme,
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety procedures, legislation and obligations to other staff, students and visitors, and;
As an innovator who demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, you will have a commitment to high quality work and professionalism. You will also be a proficient computer user including competence in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet programmes.
