Weâre seeking a skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer, primarily focused on delivering high-quality solutions to overcome complex challenges for the Vello application and help push the boundaries of what is achievable in this space. With a robust multi-year roadmap IDEXX has invested heavily to grow Velloâs team here in our Auckland R&D center of excellence.

Introducing Vello 

Launched in March 2024, Vello is a software solution that seamlessly connects veterinary practices and their clients (pet parents) through modern, digital tools. As the only pet owner engagement solution purpose-built for IDEXX practice management software, Vello enables veterinary practices using ezyVet, Neo, and Cornerstone software to communicate efficiently with pet owners in a single, easy-to-use system. With software-supported engagement across the life stages of a pet, pet owners become informed partners in careâsupporting better health outcomes. 

At launch, Vello's key features include: 

  • Automated appointment reminders and confirmationsâ¯that reduce no-shows and save valuable time for teams.â¯Â 

  • Health service remindersâ¯that inform pet owners of upcoming or past-due services, such as vaccinations or annual wellness visits. 

  • Online schedulingâ¯enables pet owners to conveniently request appointments directly from health service reminders or through the Vello software. 

  • Pet owner mobile experienceâ¯that eliminates the need for an application download, providing full digital access to pet health records, appointment information, prescription history, test results, and more, all from a mobile web browser.â¯Â 

  • Two-way textingâ¯enables immediate connection with pet owners, automatically updating the patient record and communication log without character count limitations or extra fees. 

  • Pre-appointment instructionsâ¯that drive both visit and diagnostic compliance, including fecal or urine sample reminders, drop-off and pickup times, and recommended blood work.â¯Â

Where youâll play 
  • Create technical design documentation  
  • Build large-scale or complex projects that are fit for purpose and achieve the desired result  
  • Build code that is beautifully crafted, highly scalable, and maintainable  
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve projects as they are released (agile)  
  • Write perfectly crafted unit tests  
  • Provide senior code reviews for code to ensure code that is released is robust and does not break other areas of Vello  
  • Refactor the low-level framework objects to improve the performance and scalability of the Vello platform  
  • Contribute to high-level tech stack-related discussions and aid in driving our application forward  
  • Be a role model that junior and intermediate engineers can look up to for guidance 

What youâll need: 
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineerâ¯Â 
  • Proven technical capability with software design 
  • Experience leading technical advancements to solve problems  
  • Experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologiesâ¯Â 
  • Previous experience in SaaS environmentâ¯Â 
  • Experience is valuable with the following technologies: Node JS, React, Typescript, SQL, and AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Test Driven Development. Working knowledge of Agile / Scrum.
