He angitūtanga | The opportunity

Auckland Council is seeking a passionate and community-focused Community, Partnerships and Engagement Advisor to strengthen relationships between Council and our diverse communities—particularly Māori and Pasifika—while helping reduce dog-related harm and nuisance across the region.

In this dynamic role, you'll lead culturally responsive engagement initiatives, build strong partnerships with local boards and community groups, and support Animal Management staff through training programmes that enhance cultural competency and public presentation skills. You'll also coordinate educational outreach and champion community-led solutions that make a real difference.

This is a regionally impactful role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on community engagement. Flexibility and mobility are key, as some events may occur outside standard business hours.

This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. Work is location-varied across our Auckland offices: CBD, Albany, Waitakere, and Manukau.

  • Strong understanding of Māori and Pasifika cultures, languages, and traditions
  • Ability or fluency in Te Reo Māori or a Pasifika language (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to design and deliver training programmes
  • A collaborative, adaptable mindset and a passion for community wellbeing
  • A full and valid NZ driver's licence

If you're ready to help shape safer, stronger communities through meaningful engagement, we'd love to hear from you.
