Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are looking for a committed Team Leader to join our Te Pou Hononga team in Wellington. In this role, you'll work closely with the Service Delivery Lead to promote positive outcomes for the people we support and ensure the highest standard of service delivery. This is a dynamic position where no two days are the same. You'll play a key part in ensuring a high standard of service delivery by assisting with staff orientation, finding relieving staff when staff are off, monitoring the quality of support, and organising team meetings. You will also be the go-to person for support worker queries related to the service you are supporting and fostering a culture of collaboration.
A core part of your role will be developing and maintaining professional, respectful relationships with the individuals in your care. You'll ensure their needs, goals, and interests are at the heart of everything you do, assisting in creating, reviewing and updating personalised support plans. Building positive relationships with their families and other key people in their lives will also be an important focus.
This position supports two young men who require consistent and compassionate support. They experience challenges with emotional regulation, sensory sensitivities, and severe epilepsy. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, apply positive behaviour support and seizure-response strategies, and lead your team confidently in complex situations will be essential.
Mōu | About you
We are looking for an inspiring and motivated individual with at least two years of hands-on experience as a Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will guide and empower individuals with diverse and complex needs. A good understanding of mental health and intellectual disabilities is essential.
Your can-do attitude, combined with your excellent communication skills and calm, empathetic approach, will be essential in providing meaningful and positive experiences for those we support. Essential requirements
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- At least two years of experience as a Support Worker and experience in a leadership or senior role.
- Confidence working with challenging behaviours, and an openness to learning and applying positive behaviour support strategies.
- Understanding of autism, intellectual disabilities, and sensory sensitivities.
- Experience or willingness to learn about seizure management and trauma-informed care.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Computer literacy, a full driver's licence, and the legal right to work in New Zealand. - Level 3 or 4 Health & Wellbeing qualification (or equivalent).
