Commercial Diver – Auckland and Southland

Diver – Auckland and Southland (Stewart Island) Regions

New Zealand Diving and Salvage Limited (NZDS) is looking for a full-time diver to work on a three-week rotation from our Auckland Branch, with the other three weeks at our worksite on Stewart Island.

About the role

We are looking for someone with great people skills and significant diving experience to be part of the NZDS team, who will ensure dive activities are undertaken safely, efficiently, and effectively.  Someone who enjoys the opportunity to travel around the country where very few days are the same

Reporting direct to the Operations Manager, working a guaranteed minimum 45hrs per week. The diver works closely with the Operations, Maintenance and Finance departments to ensure that resources are sufficient to ensure a safe work environment and a quality service provision to our clients.  Furthermore, a competent and fulfilled workforce is a happy workforce, and the Diver will be involved in cultivating a positive work environment where fellow workers feel valued for their contribution to the company.

It goes without saying you'll be an experienced diver who thrives in and around water, there are a few pre-requisites that are essential for this role.  Role pre-requisites (what you will need).

Key Capabilities:

• Minimum 3 years' experience.
• Able to travel and be away from place of residence for extended periods.
• Able to commit to three week rotations to Stewart Island every 6 weeks.
• Experience in the class and type of diving being undertaken including, but not limited to, techniques and equipment in use.
• Offshore diving experience.
• Aquaculture diving experience.
• Scientific diving experience.
• Understanding of the contexts within which NZDS operates.
• Where diving involves EAN, be trained in accordance with the EAN competencies within the AS/NZS
• Personal integrity and ability to handle delicate and confidential information.
• Attention to detail and a thorough approach to operations and record keeping.
• Adaptable to changing work environments.
• Exceptional time management and the ability to meet set deadlines.
• Motivated and able to take initiative.
• Broco and underwater cutting system experience.
• Underwater construction experience.

Qualifications / Pre-Requisites:

• Be a diver trained in accordance with AS/NZS or equivalent and / or holds an ADAS Part 3 (SSBA to 50m).
• Hold a diving WorkSafe NZ Certificate of Competency (CoC) to Part 3.
• Holds a First Aid and O₂ providers' certificate.
• Current DMT.
• Current BOSIET.
• Holding a current NZ diving medical.
• Hyperbaric chamber operator.
• Hold a NZ full driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a NZ Police check.
