Who are we?

Animates is New Zealand's leading pet care company with 47 pet specialty retail stores, 33 grooming salons, 15 vet clinics and growing

Being the only pet store in Taupo, we are a busy bunch who are hugely passionate about pets

You'll enjoy being part of a close-knit team and have easy access to public transport and plenty of parking.

We are looking for 2 passionate Retail Sales Assistants, to join us in the following positions:

Senior Sales Assistant - 20 hours per week

  • Sundays 8.30am – 5.15pm
  • Mondays 9am - 4pm, and;
  • Tuesdays 9.30am – 4pm

Sales Assistant – 6.5 hours per week

  • Sundays 9.30am – 4.30pm

What will I be doing?

This isn't your average customer service role. At Animates, every conversation you have and every product you recommend makes a real difference in the lives of pets and their people.

Our values-led culture and comprehensive training will help you develop genuine expertise — from offering tailored nutrition advice and recommending the perfect toy for each breed, to knowing which fish make the best tank-mates (and so much more).

You'll also get involved in a variety of daily tasks, including fulfilling eCommerce orders, and should be comfortable lifting heavier items, such as bags of pet food.

What we're looking for:

You take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, always looking for ways to go above and beyond. You're proactive in finding solutions, eager to learn and grow, and bring a positive, team-focused attitude to everything you do.

To be successful you'll also have:

  • Experience in a customer facing role (retail experience preferred)
  • Physical ability to lift stock (up to 20kg)
  • Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays
  • A positive attitude and dedication to being a valuable team member
