About the Role

As a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer at Couchdrop, you'll help build, enhance, and maintain our suite of data transfer and automation products. You'll learn from experienced engineers while contributing to meaningful features and solving real customer problems.

You'll work across the stack, develop your skills in modern technologies, and gain exposure to cloud infrastructure, APIs, and high-scale systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and improving features across Couchdrop's products.
  • Help design, implement, and maintain efficient and scalable software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across our APIs and services with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and deliver valuable outcomes.
  • Participate in continuous learning, code reviews, and best-practice engineering processes.
What We're Looking For
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Some hands-on programming experience — through coursework, internships, personal projects, or early professional roles.
  • Familiarity with modern web technologies such as React, CSS, , Typescript, or Python (not all required — willingness to learn is key).
  • A basic understanding of cloud concepts, DevOps practices, Linux, or containerization (a bonus, not a requirement).
  • Exposure to APIs, backend services, or databases like PostgreSQL or MongoDB is a plus.
  • Based in Christchurch (this is an on-site role).
