Hello Sailor is the new upmarket vibrant seaside bar and restaurant in Half Moon Bay right on the Marina in East Auckland. Offering an exceptional menu, sunset views, tropical cocktails, fresh seafood, a laid-back beach vibe during the day and live music, DJ's and events in the evenings.

With a focus on providing memorable experiences and occasions to our customers, we are on the hunt for an exceptional Bar Manager & Mixologist.

Position Overview

The right candidate will have great customer service and communication skills, produce fantastic cocktails and have some basic wine knowledge. This is a full-time role with a guaranteed 40 plus hours a week

You will be responsible for controlling and ordering stock, upholding our host responsibility statement, creating the cocktail menu and generally providing guests with an outstanding customer experience.

You will also be well groomed, personable and willing to promote yourself as the face of the business to our many and varied guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the bar operations of the business
  • Deliver excellent service to our guests and FOH team
  • Be the Head Mixologist by creating and pouring exceptional cocktails
  • Manage a team of bartenders
  • Conduct training for bartenders
  • Ensure bar is always fully prepped and ready for service
  • Always maintain remarkable turnout, setting the standard for the team
  • Create flair, excitement and energy to the bar
  • Suggested selling
  • Close the venue on busy weekend nights
  • Ensure the bar is compliant with the Alcohol Licensing Act

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years working as a Bar Manager
  • Must have experience working in a bar serving signature cocktails
  • Must have a current NZ Managers Certificate
  • Must be comfortable leading a team

  • Must have experience running a high-volume and vibrant venue or bar

  • You are energized by the buzz of busy nights, thrive during peak shifts, and are driven to keep the good times rolling while maximizing sales and customer satisfaction

  • Flair Bartending Experience highly desired but not compulsory
  • You must be NZ citizen or full unrestricted rights to work in New Zealand (No sponsorship)
