Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand Western Bay of Plenty District Council Full time

Come and make a difference with us

At Western Bay of Plenty District Council, everything we do is about making the everyday better - and helping our communities thrive, now and into the future.

Western Bay is a District undergoing significant growth and transformation. From planning for future communities to delivering the infrastructure that supports them, we're focused on getting the fundamentals right - and preparing for what comes next.

We're also focused on our people. At Western Bay, we believe in investing in and empowering our teams to grow, lead, and achieve their goals. Because when our people thrive, our communities do too.

If you're motivated by making the everyday better, helping people thrive, and leaving things better than you found them - we'd love to hear from you.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Community Outcomes Advisor to join our Community and Strategic Relationships Team. This is a full-time permanent role.

The Community Outcomes Advisor builds and strengthens our community partnerships, with a focus on improving environmental outcomes.

This role is about making connections between council, networks and organisations that are working to enhance our natural environment, to grow capacity and capability and seek opportunities to work collectively. You will work to broker the involvement of other agencies and organisations who can help make local community projects happen. You will provide support to enable communities to plan for and realise their environmental development aspirations.

A key part of your role is managing service delivery contracts, funding grants and funding partnerships that focus on the environment. You will build and maintain relationships with key funders and partners across central and local government and the philanthropic sector to support ongoing sustainable investment into local community projects and initiatives that achieve environmental outcomes.

To set you up for success, you'll have

  • Experience in collaborative working and partnering for shared outcomes.
  • An understanding of community-led development and how to support the community to achieve their own aspirations.
  • Experience in project delivery where a range of partners are involved.
  • Ability to work with and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders who may come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives.
  • Able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and experience of the environmental aspirations of communities and the outcomes they are seeking.
  • Can think strategically and make connections between people, organisations, projects and outcomes so that collective action can be taken.
  • Ability to persuade, support and influence the direction Council takes on promoting environmental wellbeing.

If you are someone who's a good listener, can see things from the perspective of others, is action-oriented and is passionate about the environment and supporting our communities to achieve their goals, this is the right role for you.
