At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 109 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.

**Community Description**

Lyall Bay kindergarten is located near a beautiful beach and close to local schools and the surrounding suburbs of Kilbirnie, Melrose, and Rongotai. We are proud to support our vibrant community with children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Our teaching team are dedicated to supporting a child-led curriculum where children follow their interests and are curious about the world around them. Current focus for the team is growing their commitment to sustainable practices through daily rituals and routines.

As a.5 Teacher your total hours of work will be 20 hours per week, worked as follows:
Mon (4hrs) 11.30am to 3.30pm
Tues (5hrs) 11.00am to 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Wed (3hrs) 11.30am to 2.30pm
Thur (2hrs) 11.30am to 1.30pm
Fri (6.hrs) 8.00am to 2.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break

The kindergarten has had recent improvements made to our large outdoor environment, providing our tamariki with a sheltered space for the winter months and inviting places to explore a wide range of physical activities.
We are licensed for 40 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will join our team of 4 other teachers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:

- Has an interest in sustainability and making this key focus of the localised curriculum
- Work responsibility and inclusively in ways that ensure that tamariki are at the heart of decisions where the diversity and uniqueness tamariki is valued and celebrated.
- Will bring fresh thinking and ways of being to our well-established team.
