About the Role
The Burwood Hospital Psychology department is looking for an experienced Psychologist to join colleagues working predominantly in the interdisciplinary teams of Burwood Hospital. Burwood Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for people in the Canterbury region.
As a NZ registered Psychologist, with relevant post graduate Diploma, this position provides the opportunity to work with people experiencing an array of factors affecting their wellbeing. We work in teams of doctors, nurses and therapists to help patients reclaim areas of function in their lives that are impacted as a result of injury and illness. You will help patients (and their Whānau) to develop strategies to manage symptoms and disabilities, to manage pain, to adapt and to re-establish integrity and independence. The patient population our teams serve, span a wide age range, from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds. Such diversity provides a stimulating mix of familiar and novel clinical issues and challenges.
About You
Bring your experience working with individuals and groups delivering education, biopsychosocial assessment and evidence based psychological therapies. As well as individual and group-based patient care, you will be a key participant in teams made up of a range of disciplines, providing a vital psychological perspective at meetings, and in treatment planning.
Training and or experience in some or all of the following areas would be welcome:
- Assessment and rehabilitation of people who have experienced injuries, illness and chronic health conditions.
- Provision of relevant psychological interventions and support to interdisciplinary teams.
- An understanding of the key psychological processes involved in coping with trauma, grief, adjustment, rehabilitation and in regaining independence, following injury or illness.
Ongoing supervision and support will be provided by the capable, enthusiastic team of experienced Psychologists who work in the Burwood Hospital Psychology Department.
