Following strong growth, they're now looking for a collaborative, down-to-earth engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract with a January start.

This Tauranga-based company services clients across the Bay of Plenty and Central Waikato.

About the Role

As the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:


• Supervising and managing maintenance activities


• Project management and planning


• Shutdown planning and oversight


• Applying Reliability-Centred Maintenance techniques (RCA, FMEA)


• Leading preventative and proactive-focused meetings


• Driving continuous improvement initiatives


• Creating and updating maintenance routes


• Reviewing and improving plant inspection tasks


• Ensuring inspections meet guidelines and standards


• Applying theoretical engineering knowledge to practical outcomes


• Reviewing critical site equipment for proper maintenance management


• Maintaining and updating comprehensive parts lists


• Actively supporting and promoting a positive safety culture


• Applying key learnings to enhance safety practices


• Understanding and implementing inspection techniques


• Ensuring knowledge of relevant codes and statutory compliance


• Other tasks as required

About You

We are looking for someone who brings strong experience and technical capability, including:


• A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (NZDE) or equivalent

(trade qualifications with significant experience will also be considered)


• Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn


• Previous experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment– including rotating equipment and pressure equipment


• Proven problem-solving skills with practical engineering solutions


• Proficiency with computer systems such as SAP, Excel, and Project


• Ability to manage and interpret technical data


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
