About this work area

As an IKEA Customer Co-Worker your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in Småland by registering and supervising children, maintaining a clean and safe play environment, engaging with parents, and supporting basic customer service across the store when needed.
  • Provide strong customer service skills and consistently engage with our many visitors.
  • Guide customers using IKEA's shopping tools and self-service options.
  • Greet visitors to IKEA with friendly, effective, and efficient customer service.
  • Ensure that all products passing through the entrance have been paid for.
  • Help customers leave with a positive and memorable IKEA experience.
  • Take on board customer feedback to enhance our services and secure customer happiness.
  • Secure customer relationships even during challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Adopt an omnichannel mindset to support a seamless and consistent customer journey.
  • Accurately record customer information in our system to continually improve the shopping experience.
  • Operate the cashlines with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Handle card payments reliably, efficiently, accurately, and in a welcoming manner.
  • Process returns and resolve customer issues, recognising when to escalate to a senior colleague.
  • Handle exchanges professionally and support smooth customer interactions.
  • Support other store areas flexibly when needed to ensure consistent service.

Who you are

As an IKEA Customer Experience Co-Worker, you are or have:

  • Proven experience in a sales or customer service role, ideally within home furnishing or fast-paced retail environment.
  • Passionate about home furnishings and appreciator of quality focusing on maintaining a high level of product knowledge and sharing the IKEA product range with customers.
  • A passion for meeting customers and understanding their life at home and be energised by providing great customer service and reaching individual as well as team goals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to connect with others, you can understand the customer's needs and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • A strong customer focused mindset, thus steering conversation in a polite, friendly, and trustworthy way and an ability to understand customer needs and to offer relevant solutions that build customer satisfaction as well as to handle and de-escalate potential conflicts.
  • Basic computer and systems skills and a digital-first mindset.

What you need to know


• The work location for this role is our Sylivia Park store.

  • We are recruiting for fixed term positions with the following hours available:
  • 40-59 hours per fortnight
  • The internal title for this role is IKEA Co-worker.
  • The expected start date for this role is 14/12/25.
  • The first step of the recruitment process will be an application form. If you are successful to the next step, you will be notified via email and invited to complete a Video Interview.
  • As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates, which includes a reference check and a Children's Worker Safety Check & Ministry of Justice Criminal Check.
  • As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts based on trading hours. You also must have the availability to work weekends.
  • IKEA Sylvia Park is a non-smoking workplace.
  • Car parking will not be provided and therefore IKEA encourages all Co-workers to utilise public transport wherever possible.
