The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Banking team based in Auckland. Led by partners Dan Collins , Miriam Andrews , and Paul Farrugia (who heads our banking practice), you'll get the opportunity to work on a variety of deals including leveraged finance, structured finance, acquisition finance, mezzanine finance, project and construction finance, syndicated lending and debt restructuring. Our clients are diverse and include a mix of domestic and overseas clients that spans a across different industry sectors including financial services, property development, climate, transport, logistics, infrastructure, energy, hospitality, agriculture/forestry and telecommunications.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • 9 years' + PQE in general banking and finance law. Experience in leveraged finance is desired but not essential.
  • Experience gained from private practice or in-house, with at least some of that experience gained in New Zealand
  • Capability to draft and lead negotiations on core documentation
  • Lead and manage complex banking and finance transactions
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    Experience managing banking transactions according to deadlines.
