The Organisation

The South Dunedin Community Network is a small charitable organisation that works to connect people across the wider South Dunedin area. While we are small in size, we are big on vision, as we work hard to support people to use their voice to create a vibrant, resilient community. Operating from a community-led development perspective, we're driven by a vision of South Dunedin being a fantastic place to live, work, and play. An immediate focus is partnering with the community to navigate the unique challenges posed by climate change.

The Job

We're seeking a dynamic individual to oversee our day-to-day operations, advocate for our community, and drive strategic initiatives. You'll be responsible for fostering community engagement, securing funding opportunities, overseeing our community rooms and managing an administrative assistant. We need someone with a passion for diversity, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with our board to achieve our goals.

Qualifications and Skills:

● Experience within the community or nonprofit sector desirable

● Strong networking and relationship-building skills

● Leadership ability to mentor and motivate our team

● Advocacy skills to champion our vision and mission

● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

● Operational proficiency including financial understanding

● Oversight and management of umbrella groups associated with the Network

● Ability to be proactive and reactive where the need arises; a master of multi-tasking

● Tertiary qualification in social work, education, or equivalent preferred

● Flexible role covering 20-30 hours a week
