About the Role

We are looking for a positive, adaptable and solution focused Senior Registered Nurse, to support the Charge Nurse Manager of our Emergency Department at Nelson Hospital.

The Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) will have a strong focus on ED flow in the context of hospital capacity. They will provide clinical leadership for staff, assist with coaching and supervision, and will also provide direct patient care. The ACNM will have delegated responsibility for aspects of the CNM role such as rostering and performance management.

This is a permanent full-time position working 80 hours a fortnight (1.0FTE), reporting to the CNM.

Shifts will be rostered 8 hourly shifts, working predominantly between , Monday to Friday. There will be some flexibility required with hours, with occasional weekend or night shifts.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Te Whatu Ora (Nelson Marlborough) is the main health provider for the Te Tau Ihu, the top of the south. Nearly 3,000 strong, we are Nelson's and Marlborough's largest employer, supporting the health and wellbeing of over 150,000 citizens across the region.

Exciting changes are underway in our Emergency Department as we undertake a major refurbishment to meet the growing needs of our community. Our bed capacity will increase to 29 following the redevelopment. Negative pressure isolation bays opened on 4 November, marking the first milestone in this transformation. Additional improvements include dedicated mental health rooms, a welcoming whānau room, and expanded staff areas. Completion of the full development is expected by March 2026.
