The newly established Commercial Directorate within the Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand is a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.

About the Role

As a Sourcing Execution Lead within our Commercial Directorate, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives across Health New Zealand. You will lead a team of Sourcing Managers and oversee procurement activities.

This role is central to the delivery of high-quality, cost effective, and sustainable procurement outcomes. You'll collaborate closely with category management teams, clinical stakeholders, and finance to ensure procurement aligns with strategic goals and operational needs. Your leadership will shape sourcing practices, promote innovation, and ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

About you

You are a strategic sourcing professional with strong leadership experience and a passion for delivering commercial excellence You have deep procurement expertise, and the ability to lead teams through change and innovation.

You are a seasoned sourcing professional with a deep understanding of procurement strategy and execution. You bring a collaborative mindset with a background working in complex, fast-paced environments. Your ability to lead teams, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement makes you a key contributor to organisational success.

You're passionate about building capability, fostering innovation, and delivering commercial outcomes that support better health services for communities across New Zealand. You understand the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement, and you're skilled at building strong relationships across diverse teams and sectors.

You will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in sourcing, with demonstrated team leadership.
• Proven success in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Strong financial and regulatory acumen.
• Familiarity with procurement technologies and digital transformation.
• Lead and mentor sourcing teams to deliver high performance.
• Build strategic partnerships across internal and external stakeholders.
