The newly established Commercial Directorate within the Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand is a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.

About the Role

As a Sourcing Manager within our Commercial Directorate, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective procurement outcomes that support the delivery of healthcare services across Aotearoa.

You'll work closely with category management teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies that are robust, legally sound, and aligned with Health New Zealand's operational needs. Your focus will be on leading the procurement processes, ensuring that the processes build strong supplier relationships that deliver value, and ensuring compliance with procurement frameworks and standards.

About you

You are a detail-oriented and commercially minded procurement professional with a strong understanding of sourcing practices and contract management. You bring a proactive approach to problem-solving, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage complex procurement projects from end-to-end.

You're confident working in dynamic environments and have a track record of delivering financial and operational benefits through strategic sourcing. You value stakeholder engagement and are skilled at building relationships that support shared goals and long-term success.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sourcing or contract management roles.
  • Proven success in supplier negotiations and contract development.
  • Strong understanding of procurement frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations—health sector experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
