Quality Projects Lead

About the role

We're on the lookout for a Quality Projects Lead to join our team and play a key role in delivering Food Safety & Quality expertise across major Synlait projects. This is a pivotal role that partners closely with project teams to ensure our growth and investment programmes meet the highest Food Safety and Quality regulatory standards.

In this role you will be able to quickly assess a situation, identify the risks and develop practical solutions that balance compliance, timelines and business needs. You'll enjoy variety and balancing working across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities of this role include..

• Provide expert Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) advice and decision-making support across multiple projects
• Lead and contribute to food safety & quality improvement initiatives
• Guide project teams through RMP, HACCP, regulatory and change control requirements
• Conduct HACCP reviews, document updates, RMP changes and submissions to AQ/MPI
• Support project feasibility, risk assessments and FSQ deliverables
• Build strong relationships across SML and external agencies to drive project outcomes
• Communicate clearly on project actions and contribute to regular reporting
• Support the development of FSQ capability within project teams
• Champion Synlait's safety, quality and continuous improvement culture

You will build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation. Whether you're guiding project managers, collaborating with engineers, or engaging with regulatory stakeholders, you communicate clearly and bring people along the journey with you.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Science or Engineering
• Extensive experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years in dairy experience, ideally in infant formula
• Strong RMP and HACCP management experience
• Strong relationship-building, communication and influencing skills
• Ability to juggle priorities, diagnose problems quickly and execute right first time
• Solid computer skills, especially Word and Excel
