At Trade Me, we're about connecting Kiwi to create the life they want.
Whether it's the big things like finding a home, a job, a car or growing their
business, or the smaller things, like finding that right bedside table or parting
ways with some old stuff. At Trade Me our vision is to be the place where Kiwi
look first.
As our People Experience Lead, we rely on you to research, design, and implement innovative organisational development (OD) solutions that build Trade Me's culture, engagement, leadership, and capability.
You will use data and insights to diagnose organisational needs and lead the design of high-impact, pan-Trade Me interventions, including our leadership capability strategy and new ways of working with AI. You will own the frameworks for organisational capability, engagement, and talent management, and partner closely with our Business Partners to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose. You will also lead and mentor our new Capability Specialist to ensure we deliver on our goals.
Here is what you can expect from this role:
- Use data and insights from the People Operations team and BPs to diagnose organisational needs, acting as the key subject matter expert on culture, capability, and engagement.
- Develop and own the overarching L&D and leadership capability strategy for Trade Me, targeting all levels from first-time people leaders to senior leaders.
- Drive the design and implementation of interventions and cultural frameworks that enable the business to embrace AI in our ways of working.
- Own and evolve the tools and frameworks for organisational capability, engagement, and talent management, ensuring they are simple, effective, and drive performance.
- Act as the lead internal consultant to the HR Business Partner team, using your OD expertise to partner on BU-specific needs and co-design solutions.
- Take a performance consulting approach to complex organisational challenges, working with stakeholders to design and deliver fit-for-purpose interventions.
- Champion and manage our employee engagement strategy, from survey insights to action planning, using data expertise to understand and address the key levers of performance.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the Capability Specialist, ensuring they are focused on the design and creation of high-impact, high-quality learning solutions.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of PX initiatives, from diagnosis and design to delivery and evaluation, ensuring a high standard of execution.
- Manage key vendor relationships, ensuring we get maximum value from our external partners.
- Demonstrate business value and return on investment for People Experience initiatives using best-practice evaluation methodologies.
What you will bring to our team:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Psychology (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in L&D, Organisational Development (OD), or a similar People Experience role.
- Proven experience in internal/external consulting, with a strong background in performance consulting, needs analysis, and OD framework design.
- Track record of designing and implementing end-to-end, high-impact programs (e.g., leadership, engagement, talent frameworks).
- Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to diagnose needs, tell a compelling story, and measure impact.
- Ability to think strategically and navigate a dynamic and complex business.
- Deep understanding of how capability, culture, and engagement drive business outcomes.
- Ability to facilitate complex discussions and influence stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to senior leaders.
- Proven ability to operate as a true consultant and partner to HRBPs and senior business leaders.
- Expertise in designing modern, engaging, and effective people-centred solutions.
- A passion for leading and developing others, empowering them to do their best work.
- Ability to move from strategic thinking to execution at pace, managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent project management skills; highly organised, autonomous, and comfortable with ambiguity
You'll have the best time working at Trade Me, and this is why:
