Position Purpose:

The Team Leader will support the Equity Program Lead and Former Refugee team to provide efficient, effective, safe, and improved patient health outcomes, within the available resources.

Position Objectives:

This will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, but is likely to include:

  • To deliver the expected outcomes of the programme and service specifications of relevant contracts.
  • To provide leadership and ensure key human resources policies and process are followed, to develop staff to their full potential.
  • To ensure clinical care is provided to the highest standard, risks are identified and escalated as appropriate.
  • To ensure sound quality and risk management practices are followed to achieve/maintain certification and accreditation.
  • To undertake appropriate clinical pathway development and other service delivery improvements. 
  • Contribute to the development of future workplans through projects, alongside the Equity Program Lead and Former Refugee team, to ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved within contractual and budget requirements

Our Clinical Team Leaders have general leadership responsibilities and in addition, will be responsible and appointed to a specialist clinical area, details are included in the specialist portfolio area section and may include direct patient clinical care.

About you - To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An appropriate registration, pursuant to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003), and holds a current practising certificate.
    A relevant postgraduate qualification with a minimum of two years clinical experience in a relevant area is preferable.
  • One to three years' experience in clinical leadership.
  • The ability to deal with unexpected situations and crises while maintaining a therapeutic and professional manner.
  • Knowledge, and demonstrated understanding of the Former Refugee journey.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate training in refugee health, appropriate to the needs of primary & community health providers.
  • Able to contribute to the ongoing development of the Former Refugee Service.
  • Experience in supervision of clinical and non-clinical staff preferred.
  • Strong relationships with key partners:
    • Red Cross.
    • Te Whatu Ora.
    • Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa - Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre.
    • Refugees as Survivors
    • NGO's working with former refugees
