Reporting to the Head of Sustainabilitiy and Innovation, this is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in sustainability.
The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, advocacy and collaboration in sustainability and climate, to ensure Watercare is meeting its expectations to the community, stakeholders and the environment. The focus is to lead the team to develop and implement Watercare's strategic direction, reporting and integration of sustainability, including:
- the development of company-wide policy and strategies including climate hazard risk assessment and transition planning.
- sustainability, climate, circular resource utilisation, renewable energy and efficiency initiatives across the organisation and in partnership with stakeholders.
- oversight of data and integrated reporting systems.
- influencing the strategic direction and outcomes delivered by other business units to ensure sustainability outcomes are fully integrated across Watercare.

To be successful in this role you will have a broad understanding of regional and global sustainability challenges and opportunities, and environmental imperatives. Your background and skills will include:
- Bachelor of Engineering, Science or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Extensive experience in sustainability and climate including a sound strategic approach to system boundaries and uncertainty.
- Excellent facilitation, solutions-oriented problem solving and influencing skills coupled with the ability to bring together diverse multi-functional teams and work with the executive, board and business units to help determine Watercare's future.
- The ability to work across the business and industry using strategic and organisational linkages to advocate for and embed successful solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to tailor the message to the intended audience across all areas of the business.
- Experience working in the water sector would be preferred although this is not essential.
