The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Packing Machine Operator to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient running of our packing lines. Around 80% of this role is machine operation (set-up, changeovers, troubleshooting, quality checks, and documentation), with 20% focused on site hygiene support for shared amenities. This is a great opportunity for someone who is experienced with production equipment (ideally in food/FMCG) or mechanically minded and ready to step up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, change over, and operate packing machinery to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve safety, quality, and output targets
  • Assist with packing line start-up and shutdown
  • Monitor line performance and complete first-line troubleshooting and minor adjustments to minimise downtime
  • Conduct and record in-process quality checks (e.g., weights, seals, coding/label verification, metal detection) and escalate issues promptly
  • Use HMIs/touchscreens to monitor parameters, log downtime, and capture production data.
  • Work effectively with other team members to meet daily packing targets and minimise downtime and waste (OEE, yield, and waste focus)
  • Support autonomous maintenance tasks (basic cleaning, inspection, lubrication) and contribute to 5S/continuous improvement
  • Complete amenities cleaning (e.g., cafeteria, change rooms, offices) as part of rostered hygiene support — approximately 10–20% of role
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) where required

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience operating packing/production machinery in food manufacturing or FMCG is highly regarded or strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and basic quality guidelines
  • Ability to complete set-ups/changeovers, read SOPs, and maintain accurate production/quality records
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain attention to detail
  • Physically fit – able to lift, bend, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to work efficiently unsupervised and in a team environment
