About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to carry out electrical work including, repairs, maintenance and upgrades at HNZ sites within Capital & Coast and Hutt Valley (CCHV) District as required. The role requires you to provide feedback regarding compliance, reactive and planned maintenance and repair of electrical plants and equipment systems used throughout the hospital(s).

You will ensure that the CCHV District has a reliable, quality and client friendly electrical engineering service to all its sites, at all times, to enable delivery of key health outcomes. The role has an on-call component which actively takes part in the after hour's on-call trade's team roster that supports the CCHV District.

About the Team/Service Location

The Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG) team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system.

Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

About you

You will have advanced electrical expertise and a proactive approach to maintenance. You will be familiar with generators, high voltage distribution systems and equipment. An approachable manner and the ability to adapt to working within a live hospital environment is essential.

Whilst not critical to the role, we would love to hear from you if you have worked in a hospital setting and your knowledge extends to hazardous substances legislation, asbestos regulations, and compliance with the Building Act and related codes.

Other key skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • Exceptional fault-finding skills and servicing
  • Confident using computer systems, with above-average skills in the Microsoft suite
  • Ability to identify maintenance needs through observation
  • Ensures issues are addressed before they escalate, supporting a safe and efficient environment
  • Highly organised and adaptable with strong time management and effective communication
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional service
  • Self-motivated, cost-conscious, and proactive in finding innovative solutions, while working collaboratively and sensitively in a hospital environment.
