Lead delivery across the city's parks and open space projects

Help shape the spaces that bring the community together. As Portfolio Lead – Open Spaces, you'll coordinate a portfolio of parks, reserves, and public realm projects - ensuring they're well-prioritised, efficiently delivered, and aligned with long-term community goals.

You'll provide leadership through coordination and influence - guiding external project managers and consultants to achieve shared outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced project or programme manager ready to step into a broader, strategic portfolio position.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic oversight of open space and public realm capital works.
  • Manage delivery performance, risk, and reporting in line with EPMO frameworks.
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, mana whenua, and community partners to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Ensure projects align with sustainability, climate resilience, and place-making priorities.

What you'll bring

  • 7–10 years' experience in programme, portfolio, or senior project delivery.
  • Background in open spaces, parks, recreation, or civic infrastructure projects, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong procurement and contract management skills (NZS 3910 preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, risk, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • New Zealand experience preferred, with strong understanding of local frameworks and community engagement.
