This is a fixed-term or secondment role Security and Resilience Advisor, focussed on physical security of 2026 election facilities, along with security and resilience of the upcoming by-election.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can hit the ground running. You will need excellent interpersonal skills in order to liaise with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, as well as very strong Protective Security experience. You will be IT savvy, agile, professional, and solutions focussed.

We are seeking candidates who:
Are able to effectively liaise and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
Have at least 3 years experience in protective security and are able to make clear physical security assessments and recommendations.
Have a good understanding of risk assessment and management.
Are able to complete technical reports and recommendations in accordance with proscribed timelines and formats.
Have a high level of computer literacy and use of Microsoft Suite of applications and software.
Are able to travel regionally and nationally if required.
Have a full NZ drivers licence.
Have the ability to work flexible hours.
Key responsibilities:
Working with other electoral officials as a team to increase security and resilience of the upcoming by-election.
Working with other electoral officials to improve criteria for voting place security assessments.
Advising on property selection and security layout of temporary and permanent facilities.
Providing security-specific advice to Electoral Officials.
Providing advice and assistance in an emergency or security incident.
Championing security at a regional, local and national level by encouraging good security practice and reinforcing security messaging.
Your Background:
A background in policing, defence or government protective security would be an advantage, but we encourage applicants from any background who meet the above criteria to apply.
