ABOUT THE ROLE - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA

The Pound Keeper Assistant role supports the Taupō District Council's pound operations by taking care of our animals and cleaning the facility. You'll also help the team maintain services at our reserves by visiting our open spaces and talking to dog owners. This role is highly rewarding, and you'll be a key part of the team helping deliver an important service for our community.

In this part-time role a typical working day will involve:

• Providing a clean, healthy, and secure environment for the animals in our care (mostly dogs but can also include horses, stock, and poultry)
• Providing friendly, professional customer service
• Communicating with the team to share information and achieve positive results
• Visiting our reserves to maintain the services provided to dog owners

This role is 22 hours per week, typically Friday to Monday, so you'll need to be willing to work weekends.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA

You will have a passion for the care of animals and the ability to work collaboratively with a very motivated group of people. Equally you will need to possess the work ethic, reliability and confidence to work unsupervised. You will need to have a great attitude, flexibility, an ability to think quickly and adapt readily.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• The willingness to go the extra mile
• A good level of fitness in order to carry out the physical aspects of the role
• Animal management experience (desired but not necessary)
• A full drivers licence
