With state-of-the-art equipment, Awanui Labs Northland (previously known as Northland Pathology Limited) provides high-quality diagnostic pathology services to the Te Tai Tokerau / Northland community.

About the role | Mō te tūranga:

Our Whangarei laboratory is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join our (Department). The position is part-time 5 days a week (65 hours a fortnight), Monday-Friday working 6.5 hours per day between 07:30 and 17:30 on a rostered basis.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation
  • You will generally be working in one of our 3 collection centres near Kerikeri but may be rostered to other Northland centres

To be successful in this role:

  • Registered as a Phlebotomist /Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician with MSCNZ or with qualifications and experience eligible for registration is desirable, but not essential.
  • A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.
  • Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
  • Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Reliable transport and full Driver's license.

There is an opportunity to train, and we will support you in working towards becoming a Qualified Medical Laboratory Pre - Analytical Technician.
