A once-in-a-career opportunity to help shape a new regional service and advance your career in Aotearoa New Zealand.

About the Roles
Radiation Oncologists (Consultant Level)
As a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, you will be part of a collaborative, research-active regional service focused on delivering specialist care closer to home for Northland communities. You will manage patients across key tumour streams (Breast, GU, Lung, GI, Palliative), contribute to multidisciplinary care, quality improvement, teaching, and research, and help shape a new model of regional cancer care.
We are seeking two FTE Radiation Oncologists to support the new Whangārei unit. Our strong preference is for clinicians who wish to live and work in Northland and become part of the Whangārei-based team. However, we also welcome interest from candidates seeking a visiting clinic model, offering flexibility to remain Auckland-based while contributing regularly to clinics, MDMs, peer review, and CME within the regional service.
This is a rare chance to work in a purpose-built $60.9 million facility, while also benefiting from the resources, collegial networks, and expertise of the wider Northern Region Cancer and Blood Service.
Medical Officer Radiation Oncology
We are also recruiting a Medical Officer to join the Whangārei-based Radiation Oncology team. This role is ideal for a doctor wanting to develop specialist skills in a highly supportive and well-structured environment.
This position offers:
Clinic-based hours with excellent worklife balance.
A stable MondayFriday schedule and no acute on-call.
Close support from Consultants, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, and MDT colleagues.
A chance to build skills and confidence while enjoying the lifestyle and community offered in Northland.
- Team model with the Auckland Radiation Oncology MOSS and the Whangārei Medical Oncology MOSS.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist exposure while contributing meaningfully to a service that is evolving and expanding.

The new Whangārei Unit will significantly expand access to care for people in Te Tai Tokerau, reducing the need for long journeys to Auckland.
Youll join a highly collegial, multidisciplinary team including Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, and dedicated support staff. The service has strong academic links with the University of Auckland and excellent training opportunities through our Registrar programme. Advanced technologiesincluding SABR and surface guided treatment are available regionally.
