Commercial Ducting & Hood Service 2020 Ltd (ComDuc) a leading commercial ducting and hood cleaning service provider.  Well-established and growing industrial cleaning company with 6 branches across New Zealand.

We are currently looking for keen, enthusiastic and energetic people with mechanical aptitude to operate as a remote team in Queenstown as Ducting and Extract Cleaning Technicians. The ability to travel away from home approximately 1 week per month as you will cover large geographical areas in Otago and Southland but predominantly the work is based in the Wanaka/Queenstown area.

The positions are rostered for 40 hours each week, with a minimum guarantee of 30 hours per week. The hourly pay is minimum $24.30 per hour to a maximum of $27.55 per hour. The timeframe for these work sessions will be Monday to Friday, irregular hours with shifts changing daily.  The timing of working hours will be set out in a weekly roster.

Our teams go into some cool places and see some amazing sights along the way. We work around our customers' needs, so work is often completed outside normal business hours.

We also have staff housing available in a shared house in Cromwell if this is required.

Having a Site Safe Passport, Height Work, Elevated Work Platforms, Confined Space, First Aid & chemical handling training is an advantage but full training will be provided.

We also provide all relevant PPE required (overalls, boots, gloves, harness etc).

Your duties will include:

  • Cleaning fans, flues, roofs, ovens, hoods & filters and other as directed
  • Cleaning and sanitizing high walls, ceilings, light fittings, laundry ducts, and air handling systems.
  • Cleaning and maintaining company property, including (but not limited to) van and PPE gear.
  • Attending and passing training courses as required.
  • Following company policies and complete training on the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ensuring you understand and follow the lockout process for electrical fans and gas appliances.
  • Reporting any accidents, near misses or hazards etc. and follow the health & safety policies & procedures.
  • Completing client security vetting and inductions as required
  • Driving the team work vehicle as required to share around the driving.

Requirements for this role:

  • Comfortable working with ladders, elevated work platforms and roof work at heights, using safety ropes & harnesses.
  • 1-year relevant experience or High School qualification
  • Flexible to changing shifts & working hours
  • Trustworthy and able to integrate with your team
  • Be physically fit and self-motivated
  • Have a positive can-do attitude
  • Reliable and keen to turn up for work with ability to take ownership
  • Good English language skills to understand instructions & complete training/obtain qualifications/certificates
  • Clean police record and ability to pass drug/alcohol test(s)
  • Mechanical aptitude an advantage

A full clean driver's license is required for this position or ability to obtain one.  As is the ability to pass MOJ vetting for some of the secure client sites we visit.

You must already be based in NZ with the right to work in NZ.
