This is a hands-on, hardware-focused engineering role working on a brand-new defense-related product. The company is building out a new product line and needs an experienced hardware engineer who can work independently, make technical decisions, and help shape the product from scratch.

Unlike many engineering roles focused on legacy maintenance, this one offers greenfield work, early influence on design, and direct collaboration with an engineering manager who values autonomy over micromanagement.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking someone with:

  • 8+ years hands-on hardware design experience, with depth in one or more of the following:

  • Battery power & SMPS

  • RF circuits
  • Safety-critical energy/firing circuits
  • Demonstrated system-level design and architecture ownership, end-to-end.
  • Strong EMC/E3 grounding (shielding, filtering, zoning, stack-up) and mixed-signal layout best practices.
  • Proven design-for-ruggedisation experience.
  • Proficiency in Altium PCB CAD and confidence with oscilloscopes, power analysers, VNAs, and spectrum/network analysers.
  • Ability to pass required security checks.

Nice to have:

  • Functional safety product experience or adjacent safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 process and safety-case development.
  • Exposure to common defence standards for planning/qualification.
Key Technical Focus Areas
  • ARM processor integration (STM32/ARM Cortex)
  • SMPS design (from scratch, not just integration)
  • Analogue circuit design (original development)
  • Power supply design and validation
  • RF design (advantageous)
  • PCB CAD and Altium
