Senior Developer

The Senior Developer develops code for complex business projects to meet the clients' requirements. This role collaborates with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to design, develop, test and maintain software projects on-time and on-budget, in accordance with established standards.

Key to this role is:

• assisting Sales with translating business requirements to technical requirements to win work, and
• mentoring and coaching developers on the team

Technical Excellence

• Analyse, design, troubleshoot, and modify complex software systems
• Writing and designing high quality code:
  • Develop code in front-end technologies e.g. HTML/CSS/Angular
  • Develop code in back-end technologies e.g. core
  • Develop code in cloud platforms e.g. AWS/Azure
• Analyse and resolve issues within existing Lancom Technology production software
• Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties
• Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation to assist handover to the managed services department
• Create up-front system architecture plans prior to project implementation
• Design solutions and patterns that meet given requirements and technical standards

Relationship Management

• Build a trusted relationship with customers so that we are viewed as a credible technical advisor
• Build a trusted partnership with AWS/Microsoft
• Listen to customer needs and translate those needs into a technical solution
• Increase customer satisfaction in the software development business by being customer centric

Project Management

• Lead sprint planning, retrospective and stand-up meetings as part of an Agile development process
• Provide technical leadership to team through regular coaching and mentoring of other team members
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits

Previous Experience

• Solid understanding of software architecture and software design with demonstrated ability to analyse, design, troubleshoot, and modify complex software products.
• Mentoring and coaching developers
• Track record of delivering complex projects from end to end
• Full stack development experience
• Application based knowledge of one of the major cloud providers (Microsoft or AWS)
• Competent and experienced in writing web applications
• Competent and experienced in SQL Server, mySQL and DynamoDB (NoSQL variants)
• Competent in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Cloud Technologies
• Previous experience of stakeholder management
• Ability to context switch efficiently between different tasks

Qualifications

• Graduate Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent level degree
• An AWS/Azure associate level certification
• Working towards AWS/Azure Professional level certification
