Penina Trust (commonly known as Penina) is a Pacific organization specializing in providing mental health, wellbeing and housing services in the community.  Penina has been in operation for over 20 years and constantly growing in both our housing and mental health spaces.

About the role:

Kia Ora Ake is a school and community based mental wellbeing service supporting tamariki and their whānau across partner primary and intermediate schools in Counties Manukau. As a Clinician (Kaiārahi) within our Kia Ora Ake team, you will deliver brief, culturally safe interventions in school settings, working alongside teachers, RTLBs, and whānau to strengthen wellbeing, resilience, and social connection.

In this role, you will:

  • Complete strengths‑based assessments and co‑create practical care plans with tamariki and whānau.

  • Provide brief one‑to‑one support and group‑based wellbeing programmes in partnership with each school.

  • Collaborate closely with school staff and the wider provider network to ensure seamless, wraparound support.

  • Uphold cultural safety and equity, integrating Pacific and Māori worldviews and aligning practice with Ngā Paerewa (NZS 8134:2021).

  • Record outcomes and insights to inform continuous improvement and co‑design with partner schools.

About you:

  • Professional, punctual and enjoy working with people.
  • Proficient in using computer software including outlook, Microsoft office suite including Teams, and basic case notation software.
  • Hold a NZ qualification in Social Work, Nursing and Occupational Therapy.
  • Good spoken and written English and an ability to speak at least one Pacific language as you will be working with predominantly Pacific service users.
  • Full and clean driver's license
  • A clean police record and must be able to pass all requirements for vetting of staff under the Vulnerable Children's Act (VCA).
  • Be medically fit to work.
  • Must be able to legally work in New Zealand.
