School Science Technician

The Role:

As our Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Science teachers in delivering practical lessons. You will be responsible for preparing materials, ordering and maintaining equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient lab environment and occasionally assisting with science-related activities for the students.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare materials and equipment for experiments and demonstrations
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment
• Ensure compliance with lab and chemical safety protocols
• Organise and maintain the lab workspace
• Work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
• Occasionally assist teachers with science activities and demonstrations in the classroom
• Plan and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met

• Solid science knowledge and technical skills
• Familiarity with lab and chemical safety protocols
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
• Experience or the willingness to work with a culturally diverse staff and young people in a school environment
• High levels of organisation with strong foreplanning and time management skills
• Detail-oriented and a pro-active problem solver
• Reliability

Additional Requirements:

• A driver licence
• An acceptable Police Vetting check
