Blue Light is a National Youth Development Organisation who works in partnership with the Police, Government Agencies and local communities to deliver a wide range of youth programmes and activities.

Come and join our dedicated and committed team. Blue Light has been in operation for over 40 years working in the youth sector alongside our partners the NZ Police.

These positions have become available due to an incredible demand for our Programmes and Services, so we now need for new Youth Workers and Mentors to join our teams on a fixed term basis based in our Youth Hub in Hamilton.

These are full-time positions and there are always chances for growth and variations in the positions due to expected ongoing growth in demand for our wide range of Youth Development Programmes we run throughout New Zealand.

Role(s) are initially for fixed term until 30 June but likely to become longer term.

Key requirements for the position are:

  • The ability to work with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Able to work with young people and their families face 2 face in their homes in the community
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • The ability to organise and plan ahead
  • Be a self-starter and work without close supervision
  • A sense of humour and wanting to be part of a team making a positive difference every day
  • Meet deadlines
  • Role will involve working daily in the community with young people and their whanau
  • Happy to attend camps and programmes away from home
  • A full clean drivers licence

These positions would suit someone who has a passion for working with young people, enjoys working as part of a dynamic team, but also organised and motivated to at times work on their own, in the youth charity sector and relishes challenge and diversity whilst bringing a desire and vision for a better future for our young people. Must be motivated and outcomes directed.
