This newly created Energy Manager role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how a national organisation manages its utilities, starting with electricity.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Head of Property Operations, you'll lead the management of electricity and other utilities across a large, complex portfolio.

Initially focused on electricity, your work will centre on analysing usage data, verifying billing accuracy, and driving insights that improve efficiency and reduce costs. You'll partner closely with Finance, Sustainability, and Property teams to understand where energy is being used, why, and how to optimise it.

This is a hands on analytical role where you'll dive into data, contracts, and systems and a strategic one, where you'll spot opportunities to improve processes and contribute to sustainability outcomes. Over time, the role will expand to include water, gas, and rates, and may evolve into leading a small utilities team.

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of electricity data, reporting, and billing accuracy.
  • Work with Finance on forecasting and budgeting for future consumption.
  • Partner with Sustainability to identify opportunities to reduce energy use and emissions.
  • Analyse usage trends and anomalies, investigate credits and billing errors, and make improvement recommendations.
  • Manage the operational relationship with the energy provider.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to support smarter, more efficient utility management.

What You'll Bring

  • Background in energy, utilities, or electricity management within a large, multi-site or infrastructure environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence with Excel and large data sets.
  • Understanding of utility billing, forecasting, and contract management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - able to work across finance, sustainability, and technical functions.
  • Self starter with initiative, curiosity, and the ability to prioritise in a fast moving environment.
  • Engineering, energy management, or similar tertiary qualification (preferred but not essential).
