About the Company
Yinson Holdings Berhad is a global energy infrastructure and technology company listed on the Malaysian Stock Exchange, with operations in around 20 countries. They are recognised for leadership in sustainability and ESG, with climate goals to be carbon neutral by 2030 and net zero by
Yinson Renewables is the group's global renewable power producer, with hundreds of megawatts of wind and solar assets in operation and a significant development pipeline worldwide. In New Zealand, their focus is on becoming a leading independent power producer and long-term owner-operator of onshore wind projects, partnering with local communities to deliver lasting economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits.
Yinson Renewables has recently achieved two significant milestones that strengthen its strategic position in Aotearoa's renewable energy sector. The company has secured approval from New Zealand's Overseas Investment Office (OIO), allowing it to advance its multi-year wind development pipeline—an investment publicly recognised by the Prime Minister as vital to New Zealand's goal of doubling renewable generation by 2050. In addition, Genesis Energy has signed an exclusivity agreement with Yinson, giving Genesis the ability to participate as an offtaker or co-investor in up to 1000 MW of onshore wind projects as they mature. Together, these developments mark a pivotal step forward for Yinson Renewables, reinforcing its long-term commitment and accelerating the delivery of major renewable infrastructure across the country.
About the RoleAs Land & Development Manager, you will lead all land access and property-related activities across the full lifecycle of Yinson's renewable energy projects in Aotearoa. From early-stage site investigations through to construction and operations, you will negotiate agreements, manage property consultants and build the trusted relationships that make projects possible.
You will be a key member of the New Zealand team, supporting the Country Manager with new project origination, red flag reviews and opportunity ranking, while ensuring that existing projects have the property rights, landowner support and stakeholder interfaces needed for successful delivery.
This role can be based anywhere in New Zealand, with a preference for Auckland or the lower North Island, and will involve regular travel to project sites and landowner meetings.
Duties
- Negotiate preliminary investigation licences and full development agreements for wind farm projects.
- Secure transmission line access agreements and other property rights essential for project success.
- Manage property consultants and coordinate interfaces between consultants and landowners.
- Maintain accurate records and provide clear, timely updates to landowners on project activities.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with landowners, iwi, community stakeholders and advisers.
- Represent Yinson Renewables in meetings with landowners, iwi and other key stakeholders.
- Support interfaces between contractors and landowners during development, construction and operations.
- Promote and uphold Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards during all site activities.
- Contribute to project planning, reporting and financial management activities.
- Support the Country Manager in originating new project opportunities, including red flag reviews and prospect ranking.
- Recommend acceptance or rejection of project opportunities based on land and development considerations.
- Provide ongoing support during construction and operations to manage landowner interfaces and resolve issues.
- Assist with solar development projects in New Zealand as required.
- Monitor rural property trends, valuations and regulatory changes, keeping management informed.
- Collaborate with internal finance teams to process landowner and consultant invoices accurately and on time.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in property or a related field.
- At least 10 years' relevant experience, including 5+ years in a similar land or property role.
- Strong familiarity with land leases, easements and rural property contract structures; legal training a plus.
- Proven expertise in land access negotiations, ideally within renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Good understanding of farming, forestry and rural property trends and valuations.
- Proficiency with property-related tools such as land title searches, GRIP and GIS/Google Earth.
- Sound understanding of the New Zealand electricity sector and regulatory environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience engaging with iwi and Māori landowners and communities with respect and cultural awareness.
- Ability to work independently, travel when needed, and the right to live, work and drive in New Zealand.
Culture
You'll join a small, highly capable New Zealand team backed by the scale and expertise of a global group. The environment is collaborative, pragmatic and purpose-led, with a strong focus on partnering respectfully with landowners, iwi and communities for the long term.
- Long-term owner-operator mindset, not short-term development and exit.
- Genuine commitment to ESG, sustainability and community partnership.
- High-trust, flexible working environment with a focus on outcomes.
Benefits
This is a rare opportunity to shape landmark onshore wind and solar projects that will help power Aotearoa's low-carbon future.
- Strategic, visible role working closely with the Country Manager and global specialists.
- Significant scope to build and shape land access and stakeholder strategies from the ground up.
- Competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and contribution.
- Flexibility on base location, with a preference for Auckland or the lower North Island.
- Career development opportunities within a fast-growing global renewables business.
