We are looking for a strategic Finance Business Partner to join this large government department for a 12 month fixed-term contract.  You will influence strategic decisions, shape financial direction, and work alongside senior leaders to deliver outcomes for New Zealanders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with senior leaders to guide financial strategy and planning.
  • Providing sharp insights and analysis to support investment decisions and performance improvement.
  • Leading financial reporting and scenario modelling to inform future direction.
  • Supporting change initiatives and helping build financial capability across teams.
  • Ensuring financial governance and compliance with public sector standards.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience in government or public sector finance - you understand the machinery of government.
  • A strategic mindset with strong analytical and commercial acumen.
  • Confidence in presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing decision-makers.
  • CAANZ Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) and a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A collaborative approach and a passion for driving better financial outcomes.
